1) What type of leather do you use? What are the beneficial properties?

Vagarant Traveler leather products are known to be made from premium oil tanned full grain cowhide leather. Full grain leather is a type of leather that has been minimally processed and so retains the hide’s original texture and natural markings. That being said, full grain leather is among the best quality leather available. Only hides that have few blemishes are selected for making full grain leather.

Full grain leather is desirable due to the minimal treatment it receives, which results in exceptional durability and “the most breathable leather a person can wear” (quoted from http://www.wisegeek.com/what-is-full-grain-leather.htm).

Leathers used in our products are vegetable tanned and treated with a blend of natural oils, fat liquors and dyes. The color is struck through the entire thickness. The resulting oil tanned leather has a supple feel and is better able to withstand the elements.  

Because it takes the entire grain of hide instead of just under-layers, full grain leather is much thicker than other types of leather  (look at our bags!). With our quality full grain leather products, you may find the need to gradually “break in” before they get more comfortable to use. And best of all, they do look and feel better the longer you use them. 

2) How to care for my leather?

Regular cleaning and care for your leather will not only help maintain its great look, but also will extend the useful life of your leather. 

For everyday dirt, simply use a water-dampened cloth to wipe clean (apply a small amount of saddle soap or a gentle cleaner if necessary). Don’t get the leather too wet, dry it thoroughly when you’re done. 

To restore suppleness to your leather and retain its natural oils, apply a conditioner or protector specifically formulated for leather products occasionally. Apply with a soft cloth using a gentle circular motion.

3) How often should I condition my leather?

It depends largely on how you use your leather bag and the weather conditions:

If you live in dry, arid climates like the winters in Nevada, Arizona or Minnesota, the harsh environments can leach away the oils and waxes that naturally protect your leather, leaving it susceptible to cracking and damages.  You will need to apply a professional leather conditioner at least every 4-6 months.

In wet climates like Seattle or during the rainy winters in San Francisco, you will want to protect your leather from moist environments by using a spray protectant or applying a beeswax cream designed specifically for leather every 3-4 months.  

For people living in hot, humid climates like in Florida or South Asia, mold and mildew growth is the biggest concern. It is a good idea to air your bag once every two weeks to halt the growth of mold. You will also want to clean the leather with a leather cleaner and conditioner every 4-6 months.

4) Does your leather goods come with a warranty and how long is it?

We take pride in our Vagarant Traveler brand. We do the best we can to ensure your satisfaction with our products and services. Every V.T. product is guaranteed against material and manufacturing defects for a period of one year from the date of purchase. For items that are beyond the one-year warranty period, we offer a repair service at moderate charge if a proper repair appears practical.

5) What are the payment options?

We accept a variety of payment methods, including all major credit cards, debit cards, PayPal, money order/cashier check. Any item shipped to Florida will be charged a sales tax, as required by law. 

6) Is payment secure on Vagarant Traveler website?

100% secure!. We do not save any buyer’s confidential financial information. Your payment will go through either Paypal or stripe.com. They are professional credit card processing company. After successful payment, we can only see your shipping address. You can even save the credit card information when you make stripe payment gateway purchase so next time you do not need to type card number again. 7) What are the shipment options? How are the shipping rates determined?

For orders shipped within the U.S., we use FedEx Ground (default), first class mail and priority mail. For international orders, we use USPS Priority International Mail.  The shipping costs are based on the USPS / FedEx shipping rate and the package weight. 

Express shipping options are available upon request for both domestic and international orders. Simply contact us at contact@vagarant.com once your order has been placed.  

If you live outside the United States, any customs/duties/taxes from your country, which are not included in shipping charges, must be paid by you upon receipt of your package.

8) How to check my order?

After your order has been shipped, you will receive the tracking number for your package in your email. You can use it to track your package at the shipping company’s website. If you have any question regarding your order, you can always email us at contact@vagarant.com or talk to us  via phone at 1-818-850-2016. Please be sure to include your name, order number and address. 

9) How to make a return or exchange?

Your satisfaction with our product is our pursuit. If for any reason, you are not totally satisfied, you can request a return or exchange for another V.T. product within 30 days of delivery, provided that the returned items are in their original condition. You may need to pay for the return shipping cost.

10) Do you carry bags for men/women?

You may have noticed that we didn’t label any of our products as either `men’s` or `women’s`. The majority of our products (except for some items in the shoulder/handbag category such as this and this) are gender neutral, meaning they can be worn by both men and women. Though our heavy duty leather briefcase and backpacks are primarily men’s favorites, some ladies also fall for the rugged style and end up carrying one. At Vagarant Traveler, we believe function should not be limited by form. If you find a bag that serves your purpose and fits your style, go ahead and get it!
